2009 Writers Workshops

 

Elizabeth Bezant is a freelance writer. Her business Writing to Inspire encourages writers to reach their full potential through on line classes, books and writing prompts. In the past she has been on a radio show about writing, writer in residence, as a speaker at UK Writer’s festivals. Elizabeth is also co-publisher of Stolen Moments, with another in the pipeline.

 
 
Greg Hastings is a singer songwriter originally from Wales. In 1973 he was a founding member of the Mucky Duck Bush Band in 1973. He performs at Festivals, Clubs and Tourist Resorts around Australia and the UK. Over the years both with Mucky Duck and as a solo performer he has visited schools to entertain, educate and infect children with his love of music. Greg has run Songwriting workshops in the UK for several years.
 

Janet Jackson is a performance poet with a passion for words. She has taken past in Slam Dunk and appeared at poetry clubs in Perth and Melbourne. Janet has published several chap books. She began The Line Mine an on line club to keep Perth poets informed about Perth poetry happenings and also involved in the formation of the Perth Poetry Club which meets in The Court Hotel every Saturday afternoon. Janet has conducted workshops and a TAFE class. Her first book ‘Coracle. Selected poems 1991 to 2007 was published April/May 2009. 


Sally Murphy, the author of The Floatingist Frog has twenty-eight books in print and a further eight accepted for publication. Her books are fiction, non- fiction and she also has some educational material in her CV. Her latest book was brought out in May 2009 and is a verse novel. Another book is due out in November 2009.


Sarah Rossetti, a Perth Screenwriter has won many awards including an AWGIE for her work. She has published poetry, science fiction, book reviews and articles as well as scripts for TV and film. She is also a researcher and has been involved in writing and research on several documentaries for Australian and overseas film and TV companies including the BBC. Sarah has also written an episode of the Soap, Home and Away. As well as her writing she runs a B& B in Perth. 


Helen Venn is the Writer In Residence, 2009 at Tom Collins House. Whilst working on her novel she has presented numerous workshops and given assistance to many writers during her tenure there. Helen is immersed in Speculative Fiction as reader, writer, and book reviewer. She also writes a blog. Helen presented this workshop last year and everyone who attended found it an invaluable tool for his or her own writing and in reading the work of others. Back by request.
